Matthew Stiebel MD, FRCSC is board certified in both orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
Having graduated magna cum laude from Yale University, New Haven, CT, Dr. Stiebel earned his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in the same city. He completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at McGill University, Montreal, QC, before pursuing fellowship training at Boston University Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, MA.
Dr. Stiebel specializes in treating complex shoulder and knee injuries and has authored papers and book chapters on specialty surgeries of the knee and shoulder. He serves as an associate master instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, teaching courses in arthroscopic shoulder and patellofemoral knee surgeries to surgeons across the United States and internationally.
Dr. Stiebel’s expertise has led him to lecture before the International Patellofemoral Research Group in London and New York City, and he has collaborated with patellofemoral implant design companies. Additionally, Dr. Stiebel is actively involved in the repair of pectoralis major muscle tears.
As a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Stiebel has worked with prominent sports teams such as the Montreal Canadiens Hockey team and the Expos baseball team. During his fellowship training in the United States, he served as team physician for the NCAA championship BU men’s hockey team and UMASS Boston Hockey, and also worked with the World Wrestling Entertainment Summer Slam Series.
Locally, Dr. Stiebel is engaged as the team physician for area high schools’ football and gymnastics programs. He is also affiliated with Jupiter Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center, and Northpoint Surgery and Laser Center.
